Common Inquiries
How does consignment work?
Our process begins with a consultation to assess your collection's value. We provide an expectation of what your collection may be worth and the timeframe for it to be completed.
How are consignment collections managed?
We handle the entire process once you drop off your collection at a UPS or FedEx store. In some cases we can arrange for a pick-up. We will assess your collection and strive to get the best price on a variety of platforms. You will receive a share every month from each sale with regular statements.
How are consignment fees calculated?
New sets, minifigures, and bulk bricks are charged 25% of Net Sales. Used sets are charged 40% of Net Sales. Net Sales is the sale price after sales tax, postage, marketplace fees, and applicable replacement-part costs are deducted.
What is your confidentiality policy?
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our service. We treat every collection with complete discretion, ensuring your inventory remains secure and private throughout the process.
Do I have to complete the consignment form myself?
No. We can complete the consignment form for you to save time. We will send it to you for review and approval before anything is finalized.
What happens after I send my items?
Stud City Bricks checks the shipment against the item list within two weeks, corrects any differences, and then catalogs, prices, and lists accepted items on selected sales channels.
How are used sets prepared for sale?
Used sets are disassembled, checked piece by piece, and completed with replacement parts when needed. Those replacement-part costs are deducted from Net Sales.
When will I be paid?
For consignment the first payment is made one month after the first item sells. After that, payments are made monthly for prior-month sales.
How is the selling price set?
Items are generally priced around their average sold price over the previous six months, with adjustments when seasonality or market demand supports it. A sale is not guaranteed.
Who owns my items while they are consigned?
You keep ownership until an item sells. Title passes directly to the buyer at the time of sale.
Can I request my items back?
Yes. Send written notice, including by email. Return shipping is your responsibility, and special preparation costs may apply if work has already started on a used set.
What happens if an item never sells?
After 12 months, Stud City Bricks may lower the price or ask you to receive the items back.
